Overview
RuckList helps outdoor enthusiasts plan trips, manage gear, and coordinate with friends. The platform turns messy checklists and text threads into a single, organized hub built for simplicity and community.
The Problem
Trip planning often meant juggling lists, messages, and duplicate gear. RuckList was designed to centralize it all, giving users one clear place to prepare, share, and pack confidently.
Responsibilities:
Product design, branding, interactive prototyping
Collaboration:
Independent project with user research + testers
Software:
Figma
Initial Sketches
Initial sketches focused on the login flow and gear garage—how users would add, organize, and manage items. These early layouts shaped the foundation for a modular system where gear could live independently or be tied to specific trips.
Key Goals
RuckList was built to simplify planning and coordination without losing the spirit of adventure. The goals focused on turning scattered lists and messages into one connected, intuitive experience.
Goal #1
Streamline onboarding and setup with a quick login and personalized gear garage.
Goal #2
Simplify trip management by connecting people, gear, and itineraries in one organized flow.
Goal #3
Strengthen collaboration through invitations, notifications, and chat tools that make planning with friends effortless.
Login & Industry Interest
After logging in, users select the activities they’re most interested in—such as backpacking, camping, or climbing. This choice personalizes the interface, tailoring gear categories and visuals to each user’s outdoor lifestyle.
Managing Trips & Gear
The trip dashboard connects users, gear, and schedules in a single view. Items can be assigned, marked packed, or shared, making it easy to see what’s covered and what’s missing at a glance.
Inviting Friends, Notifications & Chats
Collaboration features let users invite friends, tag gear, and send quick messages without leaving the app. Notifications keep everyone updated on changes, reducing confusion and keeping the group aligned.
Digital Brand Guide
RuckList’s brand combines utility with outdoor character—muted earth tones, bold accents, and clean typography. Built in Figma, the system adapts seamlessly from product UI to marketing materials, creating a cohesive identity.
Component Library
A small but scalable component library was created in Figma to maintain consistency across screens and states. Reusable cards, forms, and tags ensured visual alignment while allowing flexibility as new trip and gear features were added.
